The Administrator and the Secondary Staff will make every effort to speak individually with students and their parents in regard to what their plans may be after high school and offer suggestions for students to prepare for this time. Staff are always willing to give recommendations to students regarding scholarships and to write references for them.


Grade 9

September Explain graduation requirements and course of study offered at Maranatha Academy. Explain GPA.
October Encourage students who are working for academic scholarship to take the PSAT.
November Parent/Teacher Conferences
March Parent/Teacher Conferences
April Take the Stanford Achievement Test. Take the Career/Aptitude Survey.
June Mail out Career/Aptitude and SAT results.


Grade 10

September Review transcript. Distribute materials needed to prepare for the PSAT.
October Encourage students who are working for academic scholarship to take the PSAT.
November Parent/Teacher Conferences
March Parent/Teacher Conferences
April Take the Stanford Achievement Test.
June Mail out SAT results.


Grade 11

September Review transcript. Distribute materials needed to prepare for the PSAT.
October Have all students take the PSAT. Begin considering choice of college.
November Parent/Teacher Conferences. Register to take ACT or SAT. Visit colleges.
January Offer "Preparing for College" Elective Class at J-Term.
February Create resume/portfolio.
March Parent/Teacher Conferences
April Take the Stanford Achievement Test. Take the Career/Aptitude Survey
June Mail out Career/Aptitude and SAT results.


Grade 12

September Review transcript. Make certain that students have taken the ACT or SAT. Prepare for college visit.
October Attend College Fair. Discuss college types and application process. Take the TATE. How to search for colleges.
November Parent/Teacher Conferences. Apply for scholarships. Create resume/portfolio. Visit colleges.
December Writing essays for college applications. Continue scholarship search.
January Writing essays for college applications. Continue scholarship search.
February Writing essays for college applications. Continue scholarship search. Collect references.
March Parent/Teacher Conferences. Make a decision on college choice. Plan graduation.
April Take the Stanford Achievement Test
May Speaker (Alumni) on transition to college life. College Christian organizations.
June Prepare Final Transcript and mail copies to students and college of choice. Mail out SAT results.
