Requirements for Participation |

Academic progress reports are reviewed by the Athletic Director to determine eligibility for all students involved in any aspect of the athletic
program. Students shall adhere to the following standards to be eligible for any extra curricular activities sponsored by Maranatha Academy.
- A student receiving an "F" on his report card will be declared ineligible for a minimum of 15 school days and until the student’s grade is
raised to passing. Thereafter, they will be monitored on a weekly basis until the next grading period.
- A student who falls below a 2.0 average will be declared ineligible for a minimum of 15 school days and until the average grade is raised
to above a 2.0 grade point average. Thereafter, they will be monitored on a weekly basis until the next grading period.
- A student who receives an "incomplete" on his report card will be declared ineligible for play for five days and until the respective teacher
affirms that the work has been completed satisfactorily.
- A student who is not taking all the required classes for the respective grade-level as needed for Maranatha's graduation requirements is
ineligible to apply for team membership. Students must be considered full-time students.
- Ineligible students may continue to participate in team practice as long as there is not conflict with completing school work or having
sufficient time to study to improve grades where needed. Coaches will confer with the principal and teaching staff regarding the advisability of
student's participation.
- A student receiving a third referral in a grading period, or that is suspended due to conduct violations in the classroom or on the court/-field,
will lose athletic eligibility until reinstated by the principal and respective coach.
Note: Any student suspended from the team due to academic deficiency may not play until reinstated by the school principal.
Attendance at School, Practice and Games
- Student athletes must meet all attendance requirements set forth by Maranatha Academy.
- Student athletes too ill to attend school for the day are not to participate in practice or games for that day.
- Student athletes are expected to attend all practices and games and to be on time.
- Illnesses and emergencies are the only reasons for non-attendance.
- The student athletes must notify the head coach if he/she is unable to attend a practice or game.
- All appointments and work times are to be scheduled on non-practice and non-game days.
- Unexcused game absence will result in a one game suspension.
- An unexcused absence or tardy the day after a game will count as a missed practice, which will affect the athlete's eligibility for
earning a letter in his/her sport as outlined in lettering guidelines.
- Transfer students must attend Maranatha Academy a minimum of ten (10) school days before they are eligible to play in a game. This
does not apply to the beginning of the school year.
Athletic Code of Conduct
Each athlete that competes at Maranatha Academy will be expected to strive at all times to reflect Jesus Christ by doing the following:
- Be committed to Jesus first, then the team. (Psalm 37:5)
- Be intense. Give maximum effort. (Colossians 3:23)
- Be disciplined, self-controlled and on time! (1 Corinthians 9:25)
- Be obedient to authority (e.g., coaches, captains, officials, and others). (Romans 13:1&2)
- Leave any gym, locker room, bus, court, etc., cleaner than what you found it. (Col 3:23)
- Promote team unity. (Philippians 2:2)
- Strive for excellence. (Philippians 3:14)
- Treat teammates and others as more important than yourself. (Philippians 2:3)
- Be an example in regards to upholding the rules of Maranatha Academy.
Note: Any athlete that is suspended from school will receive a minimum of a 2 game suspension.
Athletic Physicals
Athletes must have on file a current physical before beginning their season. Physical examinations after April 1 are good for the following two years.
Examinations taken before April 1 are good for the remainder of that school year and the following school year. WIAA physical forms are available in
the school office.
